Mont Ventoux cycling camp — the three faces of the Giant of Provence

Mont Ventoux. The only climb in cycling known as “the Giant”. A unique silhouette, standing alone above the Vaucluse plain, visible from afar, that leaves its mark on every cyclist who climbs it. LE RAIDARD offers a cycling trip dedicated to Ventoux, based in Malaucène, to ride all three faces, add the Gorges de la Nesque and enjoy the Vaucluse wine route along the way. A long weekend or a week, on request, to tick off one of the summits that define a cyclist’s life.

Why ride Mont Ventoux?

Ventoux is not like other climbs. Its difficulty, its history, its lunar summit and its geographical isolation make it a goal apart in a cyclist’s life. Climbing it once is already something to be proud of. Climbing all three faces in the same week gets you into the very exclusive club of the “Cinglés du Ventoux”.

  • Three distinct ascents: Bédoin, Malaucène and Sault, each with its own character
  • The chance to become a “Cinglé du Ventoux” by riding all three faces in a single day
  • A varied playground all around: the Gorges de la Nesque, the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Vaucluse plateau
  • The Vaucluse wine route: Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes-de-Venise
  • An exceptional climate from mid-May to the end of October, ideal for riding

The three faces of Ventoux

Each side of Ventoux has its own character, rhythm and atmosphere. Our camps let you discover them one after another during the same week, or take on the Cinglés challenge by riding them all on the same day.

  • Bédoin — the legendary and hardest face: 21.5 km at an average of 7.5%, a relentless climb through the forest and then across the lunar landscape
  • Malaucène — the north face, more regular: 21 km at 7.2%, with very steep sections near the top
  • Sault — the gentlest face: 26 km at an average of 4.7%, a long high-altitude drag to the summit (the last 6 km are shared with the Bédoin climb)

Other rides around Mont Ventoux:

  • The Gorges de la Nesque — one of the most beautiful roads in France, shaded and rolling
  • The Tour of Ventoux — 100 km around the Giant to admire all its faces without climbing it
  • The Vaucluse wine route — Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes-de-Venise in the heart of the vineyards
  • The Dentelles de Montmirail — short technical climbs and spectacular views
